In view of the Koro epidemic, the central government has announced 5 kg of free foodgrains per person for the next two months under the Prime Minister’s Poor Welfare Food Scheme. This grain will be given to the poor in May and June 2021. The central government’s initiative is expected to benefit 800 million people. It may be mentioned that even last year, during the lockdown, foodgrains were distributed to the people under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana.
At a time when the country is facing another wave of corona, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced the re-implementation of the scheme to ensure that the poor get enough food. Which will be applicable for two months. The central government will spend Rs 26,000 crore on the scheme.
